First Nation, M谷tis and Inuit Strategic Housing Framework: Respecting the Interests of Off-Reserve Peoples in Ontario Engagement Sessions

As a collective, the M谷tis Nation of Ontario (MNO), Ontario Native Women*s Association (ONWA) and the Ontario Federation of Indian Friendship Centres (OFIFC) invite you to participate in a province wide community engagement process regarding the design and development of the First Nation, M谷tis and Inuit Strategic Housing Framework for Off-Reserve Peoples in Ontario.

Central to recommendations outlined in the Ontario Off-Reserve Aboriginal Housing Trust Report (OAHT), 2008, the MNO, ONWA, and OFIFC recognize a First Nation, M谷tis and Inuit Strategic Housing Framework remains an essential priority in ensuring sustainable housing is created in the interest of the urban and rural First Nation, M谷tis, and Inuit community.? The First Nation, M谷tis and Inuit Strategic Housing Framework: Respecting the Interests of Off-Reserve Peoples in Ontario engagement process aims to place emphasis on the development of a comprehensive and coordinated approach towards an effective urban and rural First Nation, M谷tis, and Inuit housing strategy in collaboration with First Nation, M谷tis and Inuit community members across the Province of Ontario.

Your participation and the participation of your community members is critical in ensuring M谷tis community involvement in the future design, allocation, and delivery of affordable housing for First Nation, M谷tis, and Inuit people living in urban and rural communities. As these sessions are approaching quickly it is imperative that we have participants identified in your community and ask that you share the attached poster with your community members/clients. Community councils are also requested to identify a Housing Representative who will attend the session in their area.

The engagement process will include one-day sessions hosted in eight (8) communities across the province.? ?Session location and agenda will be provided at the time of RSVP.
