It was a proud day for the Bazely-Curran M¨¦tis family as Arden Curran was the newest family member to receive her M¨¦tis Nation of Ontario (MNO) citizenship. Arden¡¯s mother Christine Bazley-Curran received her MNO citizenship last summer, following in the footsteps of her mother Kathy Bazley who also holds MNO citizenship.

¡°It was a very proud day for the three of us and our families,¡± Kathy says. ¡°Ever since she was a baby and long before her citizenship became official, Arden accompanied me at many M¨¦tis cultural events and potlucks.¡± Arden has also shared information about M¨¦tis culture with her school and community groups, her grandmother says.

Kathy says that three generations of women all receiving their MNO citizenship is a source of family pride and a chance to share cultural knowledge. ¡°All three of us wear our sashes with great pride, and will continue to provide information where and when we can about the M¨¦tis.¡±?
