Traditional Knowledge Sessions held in Fort Frances and KenoraKnowledge Holders meet in Kenora to discuss M¨¦tis Way of Life

In March, local M¨¦tis knowledge holders gathered in small groups in Fort Frances and Kenora to share stories and knowledge pertaining to the M¨¦tis ¡°way of life¡±. The Sunset Country M¨¦tis Council and the Kenora M¨¦tis Council hosted the Fort Frances (
March 2nd) and Kenora (March 17th) sessions, respectively, in collaboration with the Lands, Resources and Consultations Branch.

These sessions provided a comfortable setting where memories and knowledge of the way of life could be shared, and both events enjoyed a lively recounting of the M¨¦tis experience.

Such gatherings are part of the MNO¡¯s continuing effort to document, preserve and promote the way of life, and the contributions of the participants have added to the growing tapestry of the M¨¦tis story in Ontario.
